Homicides

More than 80 homicides were handled by Bill’s office between 2005 and 2011. In those cases more than 50 defendants, to date, were charged with and convicted by a jury or pled guilty to first degree murder and were sentenced to life imprisonment without parole or were convicted by a jury or pled guilty to a lesser crime of murder and received sentences ranging from 4 to 72 years and averaging about 30 years. (Twelve first degree homicide cases are pending.)
